Alabama Referees Shine on the National Stage

Alabama referees continue to raise the standard—earning top assignments at both the Generation adidas Cup and the Dallas Cup, two of the most prestigious youth tournaments in the world.

From semifinals featuring MLS academies to championship finals and international matchups, officials from Alabama were trusted on some of the biggest stages in youth soccer this spring.

Generation adidas Cup

At the 2026 Generation adidas Cup, Ethan Wilson represented Alabama at one of the premier development showcases in North America.

On April 3rd, Wilson was appointed as the Center Referee for the U16 Premier Division Semifinal between Atlanta United and CF Montréal.

Semifinal assignments at this level are reserved for referees who have demonstrated exceptional performance throughout the tournament. With elite MLS academies and international competition involved, this appointment reflects a high degree of trust and recognition.

Dallas Cup

Alabama referees were equally well represented at the Dallas Cup, earning key assignments across finals and high-level matches.

U17 Boys Final

Dorian Del Toro, one of Alabama’s newest National Referees, served as the Center Referee for the Under-17 Boys Final between FC Dallas Academy and FC Dallas ECNL—one of the premier matches of the tournament.

Final assignments represent the highest level of achievement at any tournament and are awarded to officials who have consistently delivered top performances.

Dorian Del Toro was also the 4th Official for the U19 Super Group semi-final game between Botafogo vs. St Louis City SC.

U15 Boys Final

Max Torres (CR) and Tarver Pyke (AR2) were both selected for the Under-15 Boys Final between Ceforés Cumbres and Ángeles Soccer Elite, featuring two top Mexican sides.

With two Alabama officials working together on a championship final featuring international teams, this reflects a high level of trust and recognition from tournament organizers.

A Global Stage — And Alabama Is Right There

What makes these accomplishments even more significant is the level of competition—not just from teams, but from referees.

At the Dallas Cup, the tournament regularly features FIFA referees from around the world, many of whom are selected to officiate the highest-profile matches, including finals.

Alongside those international officials, Alabama referees were trusted with:

  • A U17 Final
  • A U15 Final featuring international teams
  • A U19 Super Group match-day 3 clash and semi-final clash featuring international teams

Notably, these officials were representing different referee development pathways:

  • Dorian Del ToroU.S. National Referee Academy
  • Max Torres & Tarver PykeUnited Officials
  • Ethan WilsonAlabama Referee Program

This highlights not only individual achievement, but the depth and diversity of referee development connected to Alabama as both tournaments are invite-only and bring in the best of the best around the country and the confederation.

This is not coincidence—it is recognition.
